ElectionsUSA (electionsusa.org) is a static website. We do not require accounts or ask for your name, and we only ask for your email address if you choose to subscribe to the newsletter. When you browse the site, Google Analytics receives your IP address (used to estimate your approximate location), device and browser details, and the pages you view; outside the EEA, the UK and Switzerland it also stores an identifier in a cookie (_ga). See Analytics below.

The site shows no advertising and sets no advertising cookies.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4, a service provided by Google, to count visits and see which pages are read, how visitors arrive (for example from a search engine or social network), and visitors' general device type and approximate location (country or city). Google Analytics sets first-party cookies, such as _ga, which recognise a returning browser for up to two years. Your IP address is used to estimate your location; Google Analytics 4 does not log or store it, and we never send names, email addresses or other directly identifying information to Google. We do not use Google Analytics data for advertising. You can read how Google uses information from sites that use its services.

For visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, analytics and advertising cookies are off by default (Google Consent Mode). Google Analytics still loads for these visitors and sends cookieless pings, containing the page address, referring page, browser type and time but no visitor identifier, which Google uses to estimate overall traffic. Blocking cookies stops Google Analytics from recognising you between visits, but page views are still sent; to stop Google Analytics entirely, use the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on or a content blocker.
